ASVSS Constitutional values Fellowship Program
Constitution Values Fellowship
Justice | Liberty | Equality | Fraternity
Through ASVSS’s Constitutional Fellowship Programme, 20 Fellows are working in 60 villages across Solapur and Kolhapur on local leadership, women’s empowerment and social security, on connecting communities with constitutional values, and on removing social and economic inequality and injustice.
Our Objectives
Awareness of constitutional values
Bringing justice, liberty, equality and fraternity into everyday life in every village.
Building village-level leadership
Growing capable, accountable leaders from within the village itself.
Participation of women and youth
Giving women and young people an active role in decisions and in the village’s development.
Reaching the last beneficiary
Making sure eligible families actually receive the benefits of government schemes.

What the Fellows Do

Study the problems of the village
Understand the issues in the village: social discrimination, women’s concerns, land and housing (Gharkul) rights, water, roads, electricity, drains, and the problems of families left out of government schemes. Map these issues together with the community.

Raise awareness of constitutional values
Organise discussions, meetings, workshops and other activities on liberty, equality, fraternity, social justice, democracy and secularism. Work to build communal and religious harmony.

Help citizens get their rights and scheme benefits
Help eligible people apply for ration cards, pensions, housing (Gharkul), MGNREGA and social security schemes, obtain the required documents, and follow up with the relevant government offices.

Raise awareness on injustice, violence and discrimination against women
Promote dignity for widows, equal property rights, and women’s health, education, employment and participation in decision-making.

Form community groups and take collective action
Form groups of villagers, women, youth and marginalised communities. Raise issues in the Gram Sabha, submit memorandums to the Gram Panchayat, and pursue collective follow-up for civic amenities such as water, roads, electricity and sanitation.
