Women’s Dignity & Leadership
When Women Lead, Communities Rise.
At Dr. Ambedkar Sheti Vikas Va Sanshodhan Sanstha (ASVSS), we believe that empowered women are the foundation of strong families, resilient communities, and sustainable development. Our mission is to enable rural women to realize their rights, strengthen their leadership, and achieve economic independence—not as beneficiaries, but as confident decision-makers and changemakers.
Currently, ASVSS is working across 60 villages in Kolhapur and Solapur districts, empowering more than 700 rural women through leadership development, land and inheritance rights awareness, access to government welfare schemes, and sustainable livelihood opportunities.
Our Impact
60 villages covered through women empowerment initiatives
700+ women engaged in leadership and community development
22 women trained in tailoring, creating employment opportunities
30 women established the Nature Life Farmer Producer Company
3,000 poultry birds supporting livelihoods with 500–600 eggs sold daily
3,000 households participated in the Ghar Doghanche (Joint Home Ownership) campaign
150 women participated in the Traditional Seed Festival, promoting indigenous seed conservation
Through collective action, leadership development, women’s land rights, and sustainable livelihoods, ASVSS is building a future where rural women lead social transformation, advance gender equality, and contribute to inclusive and sustainable community development.
Our Belief: “Empowered Women Build Empowered Families, Empowered Villages, and an Empowered Society.”
Women’s Dignity & Leadership
Empowered Women. Strong Communities. Lasting Change.
At Dr. Ambedkar Sheti Vikas Va Sanshodhan Sanstha (ASVSS), we believe that empowering women is essential for building equitable, resilient, and sustainable communities. Our approach goes beyond welfare—we empower rural women to become leaders, decision-makers, entrepreneurs, and advocates for social change.
Through a rights-based and community-led approach, ASVSS strengthens women’s leadership, promotes land and inheritance rights, expands livelihood opportunities, and encourages active participation in local governance.
Our Focus Areas
Women’s Leadership Development
We organize regular leadership training, workshops, mentoring sessions, and community meetings to enhance women’s confidence, communication skills, decision-making abilities, and leadership capacity. Women are encouraged to actively participate in Gram Sabhas, Gram Panchayats, and other local governance institutions.
Land, Property and Inheritance Rights
ASVSS supports women in understanding and claiming their legal rights to land, property, and inheritance. We also mobilize women to advocate for equitable access to Mahar and Ramoshi Watan lands and common grazing (Gairan) lands through legal awareness and community action.
Economic Empowerment
Economic independence is a key pillar of women’s empowerment. We provide skill development and entrepreneurship opportunities that enable women to build sustainable livelihoods. Twenty-two women have completed tailoring training and started income-generating activities. Women are also encouraged to produce and market value-added agricultural products.
Women’s Collectives
More than 700 women have been organized across 60 villages in Kolhapur and Solapur districts. These collectives provide a platform for women to discuss local issues, access government welfare schemes, take collective action, and engage with local governance institutions.
Ghar Doghanche Campaign
The “Ghar Doghanche” (Our Home, Both Our Names) campaign promotes dignity, equality, and shared ownership within families. More than 5,000 households have voluntarily displayed joint nameplates bearing the names of both husband and wife, sending a powerful message of gender equality.
Traditional Seed Conservation
Women play a vital role in preserving indigenous agricultural knowledge. Through Traditional Seed Festivals, ASVSS promotes the conservation of native seeds, organic farming, kitchen gardens, millet cultivation, and traditional food systems while recognizing women’s contributions to sustainable agriculture.
Nature Life Farmer Producer Company
Thirty rural women established the Nature Life Farmer Producer Company, creating a successful women-led enterprise. The company currently manages approximately 3,000 poultry birds and sells 500–600 eggs daily. Women also produce and market value-added products such as red chilli powder, traditional chutneys, and other agricultural products, strengthening household incomes and local entrepreneurship.
Support for Single Women
ASVSS assists single women in accessing pensions, identity documents, food security, housing rights, and government welfare schemes. Through women’s collectives, they receive social support, build confidence, and develop leadership skills that enable them to participate fully in community life.
Our Impact

Programs & Projects
Women’s Dignity & Leadership — Recent Impact
Women in rural Maharashtra shoulder the weight of survival — unpaid care work, lack of rights to land, and the constant threat of violence. ASVSS places women at the center of change: building their leadership, ensuring safety, and opening paths to secure livelihoods. From the Herwad and Sangola resolutions on single women’s dignity, to women-led goatry and nutrition gardens, we are proving that when women rise, whole villages move forward.
Impact: 10,000+ women trained as changemakers under gender justice campaigns • 150 women, including 72 single women, now lead organic nutrition gardens • Villages officially recognized as Women-Friendly Panchayats • Women-led goatry groups building income and solidarity
Child Rights & Education
Every Child Safe, Learning, and Heard. Children are often the first to lose when crises strike — dropped out of school, forced into unsafe migration, or married early. ASVSS ensures children are not only protected but also heard. Through Bal Panchayats and joyful learning programs, children grow with confidence and voice.
Impact: 84 Bal Panchayats active across villages in Sangola block • 1,248 children engaged in fun-learning and creative sessions post-COVID • 300+ students participated in Bal Anand Melava (sports & cultural events) • Villages in Kolhapur recognized as Child-Friendly Panchayats
Youth Leadership & Civic Participation
Young Voices. Powerful Change. Rural youth are full of energy and ideas but often excluded from decision-making. ASVSS helps them step into leadership — monitoring budgets, leading climate action, and speaking confidently in Gram Sabhas. When youth lead, entire communities gain vision and direction.
Impact: Youth trained in Gram Sabha participation and civic leadership • Budget monitoring groups influencing service delivery • Youth-led climate action: tree plantations, soil and water conservation • Leadership workshops across 5 districts of Western Maharashtra
Constitutional Values Fellowship Program
Empowering young fellows to promote constitutional values, social justice, gender equality, democratic participation, and active citizenship through grassroots leadership, rights education, and community mobilization.
Impact: 60 villages reached • 20 Constitutional Fellows engaged • 5000+ families reached through the Ghar Doghanche (Shared Household Responsibility) Campaign • 150+ Constitution Dialogue Groups formed • Strengthened citizen participation in Gram Sabhas and constitutional rights initiatives
Child- & Gender-Friendly Panchayat Program

Impact: 84 Bal Panchayats established • 1,248 children actively engaged in local governance • Women’s Sabhas strengthened • Villages recognised as Child- and Gender-Friendly Panchayats
Ghar Doghanche (Shared Home, Shared Identity) Campaign
An innovative community campaign promoting gender equality, shared identity, and mutual respect by encouraging families to display the names of both spouses on their homes. The initiative challenges traditional gender norms and strengthens constitutional values of equality and dignity within rural communities.
