Bal Sansad – Empowering Futures Through Children's Leadership

Bal Sansad (Children's Parliament) is an initiative designed to nurture children's leadership abilities and provide them with meaningful opportunities to participate in decision-making processes. A distinctive feature of this initiative is that children themselves take the lead in planning and conducting activities, while teachers play a supportive and facilitative role. This approach encourages independence, responsibility, confidence, and an understanding of democratic values among children.

Through Bal Sansad, children are introduced to the functioning of the parliamentary system and its democratic processes. They get opportunities to take on different parliamentary roles, such as Speaker, Deputy Speaker, Chairman, and Deputy Chairman. Through these roles, children experience parliamentary procedures, discussions, sharing of opinions, collective decision-making, and active participation.

The concept of 'Gharache Kaam Sarvaanche' (Household Responsibilities Are Everyone's Responsibility) encourages children to understand that household work is not solely the responsibility of women and girls but should be shared by all family members. This initiative promotes gender equality, mutual cooperation, and equal participation in household responsibilities. Children become agents of positive change by practising and promoting these values within their families and communities.

Bal Sansad and its diverse activities provide an effective platform for developing children's leadership skills. Within the school environment, children are encouraged to express their views, listen to others, take collective decisions, accept responsibilities, and develop sensitivity towards social issues.

Thus, Bal Sansad goes beyond being merely a school-based activity. It serves as an important platform for nurturing democratic values, gender equality, leadership qualities, social awareness, and responsible citizenship among children, empowering them to become active contributors to a more equal and democratic society.
